THE DEMOGRAPHIC SITUATION IN NKR

By condition of January 1, 2008 a number of NKR inhabitation has compiled 138834 persons, 71652 of which - townsmen or 51.6 per cent, 67182 – countrymen or 48.4 %. A number of inhabitation, in comparison with 01.01.2007, has been increased by 1087 persons or by 0.8 per cent, moreover, townsmen – by 854 persons or 1.2 per cent, countrymen – by 233 persons or by 0.3 per cent. Official notification of NKR National Statistical Service informs about it. It’s necessary to note, that in comparison with the previous year, by condition of January 1,2007, there haven’t been a change of inhabitation’s number, but by condition of January 1, 2006 an increase has compiled 500 persons or 0.4 per cent. At the beginning of 2008 an inhabitation of male sex has compiled 48.1 per cent and inhabitation of female – 51.9 per cent, moreover, the specific weight of inhabitation of male sex in the structure of town inhabitation is 47.1 per cent, in the structure of country inhabitation – 49.3 per cent. 36.7 per cent of the republic’s inhabitation is concentrated in the capital, 16.7 per cent – in Martuni, 13.7 per cent – in Martakert, 12.5 per cent – in Askeran, 8.9 per cent- in Hadrut, 6.2 per cent - in Kashatagh, 3.3 per cent – in Shushi and 2 per cent – in Shahumian regions. At the beginning of 2008, 24.5 per cent of general number of the republic’s inhabitation has compiled the inhabitation of 0-15 years old, 64.5 per cent of capable of working age and 11 per cent – high age of capable of working. In 2007, 2145 children were born, which, in comparison with 2006, has incresed by 43 children or by 2.0 per cent. A number of deads has compiled 1227, which in comparison with 2006, has been decreased by 8 or by 0.6 per cent. In 2007 in NKR a natural increase of inhabitation has compiled 918 persons and in comparison with 2006 has increased by 5.9 per cent. A number of marriages fixed in 2007 has compiled 519, a number of divorces – 123 as previous year. In 2007 a number of visitors officially calculated in NKR (without inner migration) has compiled 831 persons and a number of leavers – 1026.
