
NKR NATIONAL STATISTICS SERVICE INFORMATION
CASH INCOMES AND EXPENSES OF THE POPULATION OF NKR The cash incomes of the population totaled 43061.0 million in 2004, increasing by 25.1 per cent since 2003. Cash expenses totaled 41107.5 million drams growing by 23.4 per cent since 2003. Cash incomes surpassed expenses by 1953.5 million drams (4.8 per cent). In 2004 39485.1 million drams was spent on buying goods and services (91.7 per cent of the total amount of cash incomes), and 1435.7 million drams for obligatory and voluntary payments (3.3 per cent). EMPLOYMENT AND SALARY IN NKR The average number of people employed in the branches of economy in 2004 totaled 34348 increasing by 1662 (5.1 per cent) since 2003. The number of people employed in production of goods grew by 843 or 6.3 per cent: industry 651 (18.9 %), agriculture 540 (20.7 %), communication 102 (12.3 %), services and other branches 819 (4.3 %), including 242 or 3.7 per cent in management and defence, 123 or 1.8 per cent in education, 15 or 8.7 per cent in physical training and sport. In 2004 the average nominal wages of workers employed in the economy totaled 41170 drams against 33661 drams in the previous year increasing by 22.3 per cent. PENSIONERS AND THE DISABLED IN NKR By January 1, 2005 data the number of pensioners in NKR is 36119 decreasing by 139 (0.4 %) since January 2004. The average size of pension is 10 246 drams against 8197 drams in 2004. Since January 2004 the number of the disabled in NKR has grown by 228 or 2.5 per cent. By the January 2005 data pensioners are 24.8 per cent of the entire population of Nagorno Karabakh. LOAN INVESTMENTS OF TRADE BANKS According to the data of January 1, 2005, loan investments (in AM drams and foreign currency) of trade banks totaled 9138.5 million drams, growing by 3105.4 million drams or 51.5 per cent since January 1, 2004. By January 1, 2005 the level of loan investments have totaled 21.7 per cent of the GDP. The volume of loans granted in foreign currency totaled 6435.6 million drams, which is 70.4 per cent of the total amount of loan investments increasing, by 1336.5 million drams or 26.2 per cent since January 1, 2004. 20.6 per cent of loan investments were made in industry, 17.7 per cent in agriculture, 16.6 per cent in trade, 10.5 per cent in building, and 34.6 per cent in other spheres. CREDIT ACCOUNTS The balance of accounts in trade banks has totaled 4649.5 million drams by January 1, 2005 (of which 1401.8 on accounts opened for children), increasing by 338.4 million or 7.8 per cent since the beginning of the year. The average balance of accounts totaled 261.4 thousand drams increasing by 3.1 per cent since the beginning of the year. The number of credit accounts has been 17787 by January 1, 2005 increasing by 4.6 per cent since the beginning of the year. EXCHANGE OF FOREIGN CURRENCY, MONEY TRANSFERS In 2004 foreign currency bought by the population totaled 3691.5 million drams, growing by 24.4 per cent against the previous year. The amount of foreign currency sold by them was 3561.0 million, growing by 48.9 per cent against the previous year. In 2004 the amount of money transferred from abroad was 8870.1 million drams, increasing 2.1 times against the previous year. Foreign money transfers to NKR received by natural persons in 2004 totaled 1904.1 million drams (21.5 per cent of all the transfers), and foreign transfers received by legal persons totaled 6966.0 million drams (78.5 per cent). In 2004 money transfers from NKR totaled 5594.8 million drams, increasing by 66.2 per cent. Money transfers from NKR by natural persons totaled 841.6 million drams (15.0 per cent). BUILDING IN NKR In 2004 building totaled 9138.8 million drams, increasing by 444.4 million (5.1 per cent) since 2003. The volume of building on off-budget means increased by 70 %, charity 37.7 %, state budget 6 % and organizations 2.2 %. Building in industry totaled 1753.6 million drams (increasing by 80.2 % since 2003), sanitation services and modern conveniences 1113.6 million drams (72.4 %), transport and communications 2133.0 million drams (160.6 %),housing services 1593.0 million drams (118.9 %), education 613.9 million drams (147.9 %), culture and sport 226.4 million drams (3.3 times), health 154.4 million (102.9 %),other spheres 1551.3 (93.0 %). In 2004 houses with total living space of 13457.8 square meters, 5 schools accommodating 690 pupils, and 1 nursery school accommodating 75 children were built. The dynamics of growth of building is the following: 2000 - 7423.5 million AMD, 2001 - 6403.6 million, 2002 - 6734.4 million, 2003 - 8694.4 million, 2004 - 9138.8 million. COMMUNICATION IN 2004 In 2004 the total income +e of the companies providing communication in the republic in actual prices (excluding the VAT) was 1949.9 million drams increasing against 2003 by 20.4 per cent. By January 1, 2005 the number of wire telephone subscribers totaled 17819, of which 15131 (84.9 %) are home subscribers. The number of wire telephone system subscribers increased by 1351 (8.2 %), including home users by 1182 (8.4 %). The number of cell phone subscribers totaled 10569, including SIM card totaling 10516 against 4975 and 4782 respectively in 2004. By January 1, 2005 the number of users of the Internet was 536, including 340 at home, against 311 and 179 respectively in 2004.
