CONSOLIDATION IS STILL POSSIBLE
RA Presidential Candidate Arthur Baghdasaryan didn’t exclude and noted that they already have an agreement with Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Though no presidential candidate withdrew his candidacy on February 9 until 6:00 pm, RA Presidential Candidate, ‘Rule of Law” Party leader Arthur Baghdasaryan declared during his meeting with the NGO representatives yesterday: “ The negotiation process is still on”. In answer to “Aravot’s” question if the names of all 9 candidates will be printed in the ballot why do they still negotiate? Mr. Baghdasaryan said: “The candidacy might be withdrawn on February 15 or 16, ballot has no meaning here”. He also added that that the consolidation can be made in the second round.
In answer to ULP member Tamara Gevorgyan’s question whose candidacy he will back in the second round, Serge Sargsyan’s or Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s , Arthur Baghdasaryan said: “In my opinion the Armenian presidential elections will have two rounds. I am sure that in case of second round it will be very hard to say that the authority candidate will be in the second round.” This confirmation was applauded and repeated when he added: I am sure that I will be in the second round. Thousand of citizens have joined us. This is not a party election. People from different parties, including the ruling parties work and propagandize for us. Each consolidation should be well-grounded and should bring good results. I don’t exclude that we still can have such consolidations until the first round. The consolidation of the oppositions is very important as in the first round as well as in the second.”
