A fired diplomat who is a relative of opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan claims political persecution after police workers arrested him and held him in custody for hours without providing any reasoning. Arakel Semerjyan, former advisor at the Europe division of Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and nephew of the former president Ter-Petrosyan, told ArmeniaNow he was sitting in a café near Opera House drinking tea with his friends on Friday evening when police arrested him without producing any document. “They pointed a finger at us and with obscene exclamations said: We saw him together with David Shahnazaryan, all of them are pro-Levon, they are betrayers of the nation, you must annihilate them all,” Semerjyan told ArmeniaNow. “They kept saying that I would be jailed for ten years
