WHO WILL ENDORSE WHOM IN VANADZOR?
- Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) has already announced the name of its candidate in the September 9 elections for mayor of Vanadzor.
"Our candidate is member of the BHK political council, ex-deputy governor of Lori region Edik Karakhanyan," BHK press speaker Tigran Urikhanyan told "A1+".
When asked what the chances of the BHK candidate getting elected are, Urikhanyan assured that the BHK candidate always has high chances of getting elected.
"The candidate has great potential to receive the citizens' votes and support, and that has to be the main guarantee for the candidate's success," said Tigran Urikhanyan.
Heritage Party still hasn't decided on whether it will nominate a candidate or not.
"We will nominate a candidate when we receive applications," said vice-chairman of the Heritage Party's board Armen Martirosyan.
"Country of Law" Party (OEK) is still discussing the matter.
"If we find it appropriate, we will nominate a candidate. I can't mention any names now since I'm not sure if they will be nominated or not," said leader of the OEK faction Heghine Bisharyan.
The Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) hasn't made a final decision yet. In an interview with "A1+", HHK Deputy Hovhannes Sahakyan told "A1+" that "the party would provide information about the candidate in due time".
Non-partisan deputy Edmond Marukyan's brother, Krist Marukyan might run in the elections for mayor of Vanadzor.
"There are many people who would like to see Krist Marukyan run in the elections, but my brother isn't wishing to run in the elections at the moment. There is still time. True, there have been discussions, but there hasn't been any specific decision," said deputy Edmond Marukyan.
Currently, lawyer Karen Tumanyan and the incumbent mayor Samvel Darbinyan are the only candidates.
Registration for the elections for the local self-government bodies is done no sooner than 30 and no later than 25 days before the day of the vote until 18:00.
