SUKIASYAN WILL NOT RETURN
Khachatur Sukiasyan will not present himself to the authorities by July 31, as reported by MP Khachatur Sukiasyan's advocates Ara Zakaryan and Artur Grigoryan. "I don't see the issue of presenting myself to the authorities because I have not committed any crime and besides that, I have not been deprived of my immunity. I don't think that there is one person in Armenia who can prove that I have committed a crime. I love my Homeland and I am deprived of certain things for supporting the defense of human rights and freedoms and generously fulfilling my duty as a deputy," reports Khachatur Sukiasyan through his advocates. His advocates Ara Zakaryan and Artur Grigoryan added that the process initiated by international organizations, particularly the PACE, has not reached its climax and the amnesty act of the authorities does not mean and can't mean completely fulfilling the obligations that they have for Mr. Sukiasyan and his partners. "Sooner or later there will be an issue for the need to put an end to the political persecutions against people who are evidently innocent," said Ara Zakaryan. So, Khachatur Sukiasyan is not planning to present himself to the authorities on July 31 because he is more than certain that he is innocent and has no doubt that justice will be restored. "A1+" wanted to know how the line "I am not deprived of my immunity as a deputy" could be understood. Ara Zakaryan cleared that up and said that the articles by which Sukiasyan was charged in the beginning and as a result of which the National Assembly gave its consent to start a criminal persecution and depriving him of his immunity are illegal and the Prosecutor General was obligated to go to the National Assembly with a new petition. "I don't think that he will do that now because if he does, that will prove that deputies have been under criminal persecution for nearly half a year," said Ara Zakaryan. Artur Grigoryan did not exclude that they may appeal to the NA Chairman to convene an NA session to discuss the issue of Sukiasyan or the demand to recognize Sukiasyan's right to immunity. The European Court has already filed a case of Sukiasyan against the RA according to which a decision was made to sentence the deputy to prison by violation of the convention and the deputy was deprived of defending himself through his advocates for six months, after which the advocates' petitions for eradicating the imprisonment have not been discussed without any grounds. A similar case is at the Constitutional Court of Armenia and it will be discussed in September.
