DEFENDED GALUST SAHAKYAN
- Today the debate between "Heritage" faction MP Stepan Safaryan and Republican MP Karen Avagyan on NATO turned into an inter-party debate. Although the guest speakers were invited to speak about the role and significance of Armenia-NATO relations, Stepan Safaryan took advantage of the opportunity and brought the 1992 Resolution of the OSCE Ministers which denies the recent statement that Galust Sahakyan made about Raffi Hovhannisian. Let us remind that during one of his press conferences, Republican MP Galust Sahakyan had said that in 1992, Raffi Hovhannisian signed under the resolution of the OSCE Ministerial Committee by which Nagorno-Karabakh is established as part of Azerbaijan. Stepan Safaryan showed the document and argued that there is nothing stated about what Galust Sahakyan had said. "Either Galust Sahakyan is talking about something that he doesn't know about, or a part of the OSCE documents are kept at Sahakyan's house, or he purposefully framed Raffi Hovhannisian, I am more inclined toward the third version. It is a shameful lie," said Stepan Safaryan, angering Karen Avagyan. Avagyan defended his fellow partisan and said that he did not know about the document. He also said that Galust Sahakyan did not lie and that Stepan Safaryan is not the one to evaluate Galust Sahakyan.
