VOSKERCHYAN WAS SURPRISED
- Grigor Voskerchyan's trial was scheduled for July 6, yet the court decided yesterday to hold the trial today. The reason behind this decision was that a new group had been created after the disbanding of the police subdivision accompanying Voskerchyan and that same group accompanied Grigor Voskerchyan to court today. The courtroom was full of people today and that is why those present demanded to move to another courtroom. But judge Gagik Poghosyan refused to move to a new room. Among the prosecuted today was eyewitness Sirak Mesropyan who was invited by Voskerchyan's advocates and was one of the members of the electoral commission at precinct #28 during the RA presidential elections. However, his testimonies surprised both the advocates and Grigor Voskerchyan. The fact of the matter is that the eyewitness started giving testimonies that Voskerchyan qualified as an aim to conceal the truth. After that, he decided not to question any other eyewitnesses because they were giving false testimonies and demanded his advocates to do something else. The advocates presented a number of petitions today to attach new, additional evidence to the case, as well as call new eyewitness to court. The judge denied petition after petition and had a dispute with advocate Mushegh Shushanyan after denying one of them. This and other unsupported denials sparked anger among former political prisoners Alexander Arzumanyan, Petros Makeyan, Hovhannes Harutyunyan, Suren Sirunyan and others. When the judge gave them a warning that he had not allowed them to speak out of turn, Alexander Arzumanyan arose and said: "I just wanted to say that many eyewitnesses have been beaten based on the case of "The Seven" and it was a statement that I allowed myself to make," said Arzumanyan. Today's trial went through several intermissions today. After the judge returned from a discussion on the advocates' petition to call new eyewitnesses to court, he postponed the trial, saying that he had not seen any of the advocates in the courtroom. When it turned out that the advocates had already returned to court, the judge changed his mind and said that he had another trial to attend to and the trial was postponed to July 3 at 1 p.m. "If the advocates had not shown up, you were going to throw the blame on the advocates without telling the truth," responded the gathered
