"GLORIOUS ELECTION WAS HELD IN IRAN"
"No political crisis is felt in Iran," Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Mr. Seyed Ali Saghaeyan told a press conference today. Assessing the recent presidential election in Iran the Ambassador said it was a glorious election. "85% of eligible voters participated in the vote and 40 million ballots were cast in ballot boxes," he added. "Regardless of all preventive efforts taken by the West and the Unites States, Iran was able to surmount all obstacles and conduct a glorious election," underlined the Ambassador. With regard to Iranian-American relations, the Ambassador said: "Although President Barrack Obama came to power with a motto to bring changes in the country, so far he has effected no changes." According to Iranian mass media protests are being organized in Azerbaijan as well which made Iran recall its ambassador from Azerbaijan. In this connection Mr. Seyed Ali Saghaeyan said the ambassador was recalled for some other reasons. The post-election events in Iran resemble those of Armenia after the presidential election of 2008. In reply to A1+'s question whether the similarities are conditioned by cultural or some other factors, the Ambassador said: "Surely, the two peoples have much in common in literature, poetry, etc. But the March 1 events in Armenia are incomparable. The West spends great sums of money on inciting velvety revolutions in post-Soviet countries as was the case with Georgia and Kyrgyzstan. Thanks to the reasonable steps of Armenian authorities a revolution was averted in Armenia."
