FRANCE TELECOM GRANTED LICENCE
On November 19 the Public Services Regulatory Commission granted the licence of a third mobile operator to France Telecom, registered in Armenia as FTA Telecom. The company was also authorised to use radio frequencies.
France Telecom is bound to make an investment of 200 million euros in Armenia.
According to the terms of licence, FTA Telecom is committed to guarantee open air GSM service in Yerevan and in 42 Armenian towns as well as open subdivisions in these towns within two years after getting the license. Besides, the company is to provide GSM coverage in 200 Armenian villages and in 85 percent of transport junctions connecting Armenia with Georgia and Iran in three years.
