The Center for the Popular Movement starts collecting signatures to bring an action against Robert Kocharian at the International Criminal Court of the Hague.
Representative of the Popular Movement, David Shahnazarian, was the first to sign the document.
“Robert Kocharian committed grave crimes against the Armenian state and the Armenian people. He twice came to power through document forgery and power usurpation. Kocharian reinforced his autocratic and despotic rule through heavy blood, the crime of October 27, 1999, and established a kleptocratic regime in Armenia. He finished his office with blood, the severe slaughter of March 1, 2008, which is a crime against the whole humanity.
The collection of signatures is conducted both in Armenia and overseas, he added.
Today Mr. Shahnazarian also referred to the recent events in Northern Avenue. “The government is up for provocations through its criminal elements against the sit-down strikers. Let’s speak of concrete cases. Theatre director Vahram Sahakian went to the avenue and threatened the strikers with a gun.
The Chief of the Police of Kentron district conceals the crime. He declined to send detectives to the stage and to investigate the case, noting that witnesses should show up at the police station which is a rough breach of law.
If the police do not reveal and punish wrongdoers, they prove that the incident is put up by the government, and Serzh Sarkissian is to shoulder responsibility.
We demand that the police involve the footage shot by the security cameras in Northern Avenue in the investigation. It is an incontestable proof. The Armenian government has been usurped through crime against humanity, and the National Assembly is responsible for and accomplice in the murder of peaceful citizens on March 1. Evidence to this is that the parliament voted in a wink for the arrest of their colleagues, the members of parliament who endorsed the Popular Movement, and voted for an illegal state of emergency.
Robert Kocharian had organised all that mass. He confessed in his latest interview that he had ordered to fire at people and to deploy the army. Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepian is also responsible for the events. Levon Ter-Petrossian’s activity has sent two people, Robert Kocharian and Aghvan Hovsepian, into psychosis, concluded David Shahnazarian.
