“SHANT HARUTIUNIAN IS A HOSTAGE”
“No criminal action has been instituted against the writer and publicist Shant Harutiunian, Leader of the “Tseghakron” Party. Nor has an investigator has visited him Harutiunian has been in custody for four months,” Stepan Danielian, Chairman of the “For Democracy” NGO, informed A1+.
Stepan Danielian says Harutiunian is detained for his political dissent. He has no connection with the opposition rallies. “On March 1 when people already ran into panic after hearing shots overhead Shant Harutiunian made a speech over a loudspeaker to ease the tension. Shant is really imprisoned for his political stance,” Stepan Danielian told A1+.
Danielian thinks Harutiunian is hold as a hostage in the Vardashen Penitentiary Institution and should be released immediately.
