“AUTHORITIES DECLARE WAR AGAINST NATURE”

Today in defense of Teghut forests a number of citizens staged a protest action at the RA Governmental Buildings. The protesters painted various colorful pictures representing Nature and spread them out on the ground.
The aim of this unusual “exhibition” was to inform the MPs and the passers-by about the current problems of Teghut forests.
The police, arranged into a chain, prevented the demonstrators from standing in front of the Governmental Buildings on the grounds that they slowed down the Government’s work.
Some of the policemen came up to have a look at the pictures and asked questions about the representations in them. The protesters kindly answered their questions and explained the possible problems the copper-molybdenum plant might cause. “The present authorities have declared war against Nature”, stated Mariam Sukhudian, member of the movement for protection of Teghut.
After the demonstration the participants are planning to march to VTB Bank which finances the copper-molybdenum mining operation.
