DEMANDING THEIR DONATION
Today at 10:00 a.m. a number of Echmiadzin hostel residents staged a protest action at the Presidential Residence. They demanded that their hostel be privatized. According to the demonstrators former Prime-Minister Serzh Sargssian adopted a resolution to donate the hostel building to the residents but the local authorities displayed lack of care in their duties keeping the resolution back from the residents.
“We learnt about the resolution in May 2008. And now we demand our donation. The resolution is not carried into effect since it is not confirmed by the Government”, complains Dukhik Movsissian, a hostel resident.
The latter states that part of the building Generals provided to the Ministry of Defence, while the other part Serzh Sargssian donated to them so that “the Generals would not be able to take it away from us.”
Minutes later the demonstrators were accepted by the Head of State Property Management of RA, who promised to discuss the issue at the Government Session on Thursday.
However, the hostel residents do not expect any solution to their problem and are planning to hold another protest unless the Government confirms the resolution on May 29.
