ARAM KARAPETIAN HOSPITALISED
The press secretary of the department of penitentiaries of the ministry of justice of Armenia issued a press release on May 16 which holds, “The recent information about the state of NZhK Leader Aram Karapetian who is in custody at the penitentiary of Yerevan Center is intentionally distorted.
Attempts are made to “prove” that no adequate care is provided to the person whose health is extremely bad. Karapetian is allegedly held in custody without legal grounds and his health state is ignored.
We must say that Aram Karapetian has regularly been examined by the medical service of the penitentiary and by a special expertise whose conclusions do not support the abovementioned suppositions. A group of doctors led by Professor Lusia Mikayelian examined Aram Karapetian and diagnosed “essential hypertension the II-III phase heart brain, coronary angioneurosis”. The medical group confirmed the conclusion of the medical service of the penitentiary that there is no need to hospitalise the patient.
According to the press release, Karapetian was taken to hospital “to avoid irrelevant assumptions.”
The medical center will make a diagnosis later.
