SITUATION IN TSITSERNAKABERD
- more images

When the marchers approached Tsiternakaberd they simply raised their fists in silence. On their way up the policemen “halved” them by standing between the 2 halves and made people at the rear wait until the front moved forward.
“We are not going anywhere. We must lay flowers together”, exclaimed women. However hard the police tried, they weren’t able to persuade the crowd it was done for the mere purpose of staying away from people clusters. In the end the police yielded.
When thousands of marchers approached the memorial with various posters criticizing the present government, the operators simply turned off their video cameras and moved away.
As it turned out later all the TV channels had ceased their live transmissions from Tsiternakaberd broadcasting Serzh Sargssian’s visit instead. After laying flowers the marchers moved back to Northern Avenue.
