
DAVIT BAKRADZE WILL REPLACE NINO BURJANADZE

On April 21 Nino Burjanadze unexpectedly announced her resolution not to run for May 21 Parliamentary Elections of Georgia.
Opposition leaders and politicians account her decision for the crisis in the Presidential Party, which threatens to split the Government. Anyway, the Parliamentary Speaker refuses to lead the “United National Movement” Party at the upcoming Parliamentary Elections.
To her statement, she is not going to join the opposition and pledges to always protect the state interests of Georgia.
“I have made a decision not to run for May 21 Parliamentary Elections”, stated Burjanadze at a special briefing on Monday. “My decision is final and it is not liable to change. I hope the Georgians will vote for the best candidate.”
Nino Burjanadze will hold the position of Parliamentary Speaker until May 21. At the Parliamentary Elections due on May 21 Foreign Minister Davit Bakradze will lead the “United National Movement” Party.
