DEMIRCHIAN USED TO BE A DEMOCRAT
Today Karen Demirchian would have become 76. We lost him 9 years ago but all his relatives and friends still visit Komitas Pantheon where he is buried. People called him “Karen the Constructor” since Armenia was a most prosperous and advanced country under his rule.
During those 14 years in power Demirchian acquired a great fame and fine reputation. He was able to revive hope in people towards progress and improvement. Alas criminals took away his life and ruined all hope in people.
“He was a unique husband, an exceptional father and a brilliant leader. Those who have not known him can’t assess his real values. He should not be judged by appearance only”, says Rima Demirchian, Karen Demirchian’s widow.

KD fought for the Armenian people, and the people were so thankful, that one of them decided to honor his service by murdering him. And since Mr. Nairi Hunanyan's jail sentence, not one news organization has even tried to ask of Mr. Hunanyan's condition, is he in fact in jail???
If one is to look at the footage showing Nairi and his brother during the seige (when thay demand the press to connect RK so that they can speak to him) the brother holding the AK-47 looks scared as hell...not the facial expression of a so-called revolutionary, as the 2 brothers called themselves. I'll conclude by saying that prior to their deaths both KD and VS had arranged a meeting with the Azeri's to try to reach a conclusive settlement about karabagh.

Today in Armenian history- 1879 Death of Chamik Aramyan (publisher) in Constantinople. He was born in 1820.
- 1904 Birth of Hrant G. Pastrmajian. He died in 1954.
- 1922 Aram Yerkanian and Arshavir Shirakian executed Behaeddin Shakir, the leader of the "special forces" and Jemal Azmi, former Governor of Trabizond, in Berlin. Both were active in implementing the 1915 Armenian Genocide.
- 1957 Twinning of Kirovakan (Vanadzor) and Batumi (Georgia).
- 1990 An International Scholars' Meeting titled: "The Armenian Genocide: History, Theory, Political Responsibility" and devoted to 75th Anniversary of the Armenian's Genocide, takes place in Yerevan. It lasts to April 21.
- 1997 The Legislative Assembly of New South Wales (Australia) adopts a decision to commemorate April 24 as a Memorial Day of the Armenian Genocide. It suggests to the Federal Australian Government to adopt a similar decision.
