
SERZH SARGSSIAN MEETING OSCE CO-CHAIRS
An official delegation led by Serzh Sargssian arrived in Bucharest to partake in NATO summit today.
In “Novotel” hotel Armenian Prime Minister met OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and Mr. Andrzej Kasprzyk, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.
The present phase of negotiations over Nagorno Karabakh conflict regulation was assessed at the reception. Co-chairs introduced the results of yesterday’s meeting with Ilham Aliyev after which Serzh Sargssian expressed anxiety over Azerbaijan’s diplomatic moves, the latest occurrences on Azerbaijan border and reaffirmed Armenia’s willingness to solve the Karabakh conflict on peaceful terms. Participants also discussed the possibility of extending conflict regulation.
Later on Serzh Sargssian told the journalists he would give thorough information after meeting the other side. He considers the co-chairs are optimistic and says they have grounds for it. Asked about the possibility of meeting Azerbaijan’s President Serzh Sargssian declared he didn’t mind to meet him in frames of any convention if the other side expressed willingness. Mathew Braiza, OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair, shared her impressions with Armenian journalists.
“Negotiations will definitely continue. It is important that after the Inauguration Day presidents meet and communicate with each other. We are simply waiting for the opportunity”, announced Concerning Azerbaijan’s tough attitude towards the continuation of negotiations in frames of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Mathew Braiza declared: “In my opinion Azerbaijan is for continuation of negotiations in spite of some tough instances.” She was sure the negotiation process would continue and expressed hope it wouldn’t last long. “It was the first day, and step by step we shall go forward”, she said. Asked about changing the format of Karabakh conflict regulation, Ms. Mraiza answered: “The only format is OSCE Minsk Group and there is no need to change it. The process is moving.”
After the meeting Serzh Sargssian left for Romanian Parliament where a symposium “Euro-Atlantic Partnership: Confronting Security Challenges in 21st century” will be held in frames of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) countries.
