Why not we can imagine one day people shout in the streets: Larisaa, Larissa...

It is so encouraging to hear such objective and democratic voices like this one from L. Alaverdian and earlier from lt. general deputy minister of defence Gregorian who have the courage under this authoritarian regime to stand up and speak sensibly. It is a good sign and I am pretty sure it is long waited by the people of Armenia to see some of their leaders speak and approach the current political situation in Armenia so sensibly. Nevertheless, I should not get overexcited because Armenia and its heroic people are governed by a brutal gang of dictators who will not easily give up their KGB tactics to oppressing and killing innocent, unarmed and unprotected Armenians. The fact of the matter is that our people will be encouraged to see that some of their leaders do care for them that they are not left alone in their democratic peaceful struggle to restore democracy, transparency, civil and human rights in their beloved country. Let's hope that others will also follow suit the Alaverdian's and lt. general's example so that the pressure on the governing gang mounts and becomes really effective.

(democratic peaceful struggle to restore democracy, transparency, civil and human rights in their beloved country)
Philip i don't know how can you call that a peaceful struglle. Were you watching what we were all watching? Burning cars, shops, businesses, killing 18 years old ARMENIAN soldier. My understanding of democracy is defenitly unlike yours. With that said, i would've liked seeing the same people gathering in the freedom square and shouting AZADOUTIOUN, DEMOCRACIA, SERJIK HERACIR and not LEVON-LEVON, another bandit. So we will get rid of bandits to replace them with a more vicious bandit? IS there anyone that guarantees, that if LTP is back he wouldn't do the same? Or even worst?
I think it's time for us to start using our brains more than our feelings.

I don't know much about her, any links or info about her would be much appreciated. Totally agree, why not a woman president, she might have the motherhood senses towards her people.
Anyways, i would still give a last chance to the Serjik and Robert duo to see if they will really bring any changes. YO might oppose me and i would totally understand that.

    Mihran,
There used to be a artcile on her (and other women in Armenian politics) on armenianow but I could not find it... the archives are gone for some reason.
From what I remember: she was VERY educated. Nothing like the two punks Robert and Serj. She was the first Ombudsman of Armenia for human rights and rights of citizens. She was very humble. liked her.

Harout, be sensible and watch things objectively. Didn't you really see the army officers in full combat gear (it was as if they were ready to fight the enemy) with clubs, electroshock devices, tear gas, guns, tanks attacking and murdering innocent, unarmed, unprotected and peaceful fellow Armenian demonstrators? We all saw these tragic and shocking pictures in the western world on our tv sets. Didn't you see them?
The burned cars and the looting were made by the provocateurs of this authoritarian regime. It is a tactic used by all coward dictators to provoke and incite the peaceful demonstrators in order to justify its incendiary actions against the people. I have repeatedly said and I'll say once again, I am concerned about the PEOPLE OF ARMENIA and about its PROSPECTS FOR A BETTER LIVING AND FOR DEMOCRACY. I am not concerned with this or that fellow and I ask you to do the same. You should worry about the people of Armenia and its fate like you are concerned about the tragic death of the young Armenian soldier. I sympathize for his death as I do also for the many other innocent, unarmed, unprotected peaceful demonstrators who were murdered in cold blood. I express my deepest and sincere condolences to their families, relatives and friends for the tragic and unjust loss of their loved ones.
Harout, you have to realize that during the last ten years our country is governed by an authoritarian regime whose governing KGB tactics are comparable in brutality and menace to those implemented during the stalin era (purges 1944 - 46). Therefore one's criticism should be focused to this ten year period (it is already a long time), however, I have no problem to criticize the wrong doings of the previous governments (I do not recall of any brutal murders in the parliament and on the streets taking place with the previous regime). The ferocious atrocities in our country were executed during the last ten years under this corrupted karabach clan. It is up to you to accept this undisputed facts or remain blind, one sided and fanatic fan of these coward and corrupted in all aspects voracious dictators. Look around and see the hundreds of our fellow Armenian citizens who are arrested for no conviction and are ill-treated and tortured while in custody. Do you justify these unlawful arrests? Recently, we are witnessing some encouraging developments in Armenia in the sense that we hear voices of criticism against the current regime from distinguished men and women such as the lt. general deputy minister of defense Gregoryan and MP Larrisa Alaverdian. This is very optimistic for all those Armenians who cry and struggle peacefully for the restoration of DEMOCRACY, TRANSPARENCY, CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS in their country. The People of Armenia are not left alone. Hopefully others will follow suit the heroic example set by these distinguished men and women and eventually will become a peaceful snow ball which will wipe away what is left of the governing authoritarian regime. The people then will be asked to freely decide through a tangible democratic process, about their political, social and economic fate. The sooner this happens Harout, the better for the present and future of our country and its PEOPLE. Make up your mind my friend and contrary to what you said, I'll say USE YOUR BRAINS AND YOUR FEELINGS.

I will repeat for i don't know how many times now, i'm in no way in favour of robert or Serjik, far from that, but i saw the riots took place long before the armed forces arrived. Just yesterday, one of our relatives arrived from Erevan, trust me, the guy is on neither side, so his version of the events was enough to know what really happened. The idea of provocators and stuff, is just a plein lie, propganda of those who organized the meetings, or to be fair, maybe people who did not matter for them what was going on and they just took their anger out. I do not beleive in any media any more, everyone is simply lying, it is hard to know who is wright 100%, that's why my friend, don't be too sure of your version of the events.
For the prior government (LTP) they didn't do a better job at all, the same exact thins, just remember this name, Vano Sirateghian.
Anyways, i wish that some true leader will pop and lift our people to the tops, that's all i ask and i don't care about his colors.
Thanks for a civilized conversation to all.

Prefering S.S. from L.T.P. or vise versa pretty much sounds like choosing "bad" from "worse"... I wish the opposition was headed by more credited politician then LTP. He does not just cut it. Too many negative paragraphs on his resume. I wish there were more armenians approaching this issue like you do,- "neither-nor"
    sincerely
