LEVON TER-PETROSSIAN REMINDS EU ABOUT ITS COMMITMENTS
Addressing today’s rally at Liberty Square Levon Ter-Petrossian underlined that the popular movement has reached an important haven, and the local factor has turned into an international factor. The movement has acquired a trajectory which is already a model for the people of other countries, how people can come together and oppose to the totalitarian and bandit regimes and remove them from the country.
Levon Ter-Petrossian recalled his yesterday’s speech in which he pointed to the unserious behavior of the countries and organizations of the world and the balanced, serious stance of Russia. Ter-Petrossian said the United States has also adopted a serious stance, and evidence to it is the statement of the U.S. Department of State about the Armenian presidential election and the stance of the American diplomat of the OSCE about the protest rally in Armenia, about which Ararat Zurabian announced in today’s rally. According to Ter-Petrossian, it is evidence that the United States does not believe in the election. This is a factor which the Armenian “petty kings” cannot ignore, Levon Ter-Petrossian says.
Levon Ter-Petrossian said he cannot feel the seriousness of the EU. The European observers cannot notice what is happening in Armenia. The OSCE/ODIHR is now in crisis, said Ter-Petrossian, and it was felt not only in Armenia but also in Georgia, there are publications in the international media. If formerly the governments complained of them, now people, popular movements are complaining of them, and if they go on this way, people can demand these observers to stop this Pharisaic behavior in their countries. They misunderstand their mission, Ter-Petrossian says. They demand that our countries fulfill the commitments they assume before them but they fail to fulfill their commitments to people, the people gathered at this square. Those commitments are efforts towards democracy and the rules of social coexistence.
Levon Ter-Petrossian stated that since October 23 his supporters have undergone violence, and have been denied access to the media. The European observers have failed to notice this so far, and have observed only the voting. On that day too, they observed violence but continue to speak of an election. If something of the kind happened in their country, a French revolution would happen there. This is clear racism, says Levon Ter-Petrossian, noting that what they consider as immoral in their country they consider as moral in our country.
Levon Ter-Petrossian addressed the observers from the Square: if you want to make an unbiased assessment, forget about your accountancy and assess the facts, the violence which were like that which Saddam Hussein used against his people.
