DID NOT ARRIVE IN YEREVAN
On 16 February at about 11 :30 a.m. in Tashir a road police car with 0293 state numbers stopped the bus with 41SS665 state number going to Yerevan from Tashir and carrying people to participate in Ter-Petrosyan’s gathering near the village Saratovka. When the citizens of the bus informed that they were going to Tashir with the observation mission, the police inspectors allowed them continue the traffic. This information was provided by Arthur Sakuns-head of Armenian bureau of Helsinki Civil Assembly in Vanadzor.
According to him, the driver of the bus refused to drive the bus on Stepanavan-Vanadzor crossway, motivating that the bus was out of order. According to the information they had, the driver’s father was invited to the police department in Tashir, with the claim to ask his son not to take the citizens to Yerevan, otherwise he would have problems.
“Thus, the inspector hampered the rights of the citizens to move freely, without any grounds, which is considered the abuse of official competences”, said Arthur Sakuns. The latter turned to Colonel Grigoryan, Head of Lori regional police department “to take corresponding measures, for the employee of road police to bear the responsibility. At the same time, we ask to examine the problem with the driver’s father and the reason why the bus was out of order”.
