LEVON TER-PETROSSIAN GETS WARM RECEPTION

More than 3000 people crowded in Sisian today to meet presidential contender Levon Ter-Petrossian’s team.
The meeting was held in a warm atmosphere without major incidents. The candidate’s speech was occasionally interrupted by loud shouts “Levon, Levon,” followed by warm applauses.
Levon Ter-Petrossian reminded that over 15 000 people live in Sisian, and 1/3 of the population attended their meeting.
Republican Party Leader Aram Sargsian, Armenian People’s Party (HZhK) Leader Stepan Demirchian and HZhK member Grigor Harutiunian made addressing speeches.
After the meeting Levon Ter-Petrossian left for Goris.

Today in Armenian history- 1870 Birth of Nerses Ashtaraketsee the Fifth, later to become Catholicos and a figure of the National Liberal Movement. In 1814, while leader of the See of Tbilisi (Georgia), he founded the Nersessyan School. (He died in 1957).
