“HERITAGE” TOOK SERZH SARKISSIAN’S ADVICE
Our decision is driven by Serzh Sarkissian’s interests as he also calls for changes in the system. During his regional meetings the Prime Minister reiterates that Armenia lacks a legitimate and wise president.
“We fully endorse and share Serzh Sarkissian’s opinion. The “Heritage” Party thinks that radical changes should be effected in the country and backs Levon Ter-Petrossian,” “Heritage” member Anahit Bakhshian said on February 13 while commenting on their support for the First President at the upcoming election.
Anahit Bakhshian thinks that Serzh Sarkissian will be unable to fulfill his promises while Levon Ter-Petrossian can make marked changes in the country.
“The Party has received warm congratulations since we voiced support for Levon Ter-Petrossian. Surely, some party members were against the decision as they wanted to second another opposition candidate. And yet, the overwhelming majority, representatives of intelligentsia, voted for the decision,” MP Stepan Safarian said.
“The Party has called for an alliance since the beginning of the election race. In particular, we expected that the ARF Dashnaktsutiun, Orinats Yerkir Party, National Democratic Union and self-nominated Levon Ter-Petrossian will ally as we saw an urgent need in the society. Unfortunately, our expectations failed. ”
Safarian noted that they will cooperate with all opposition forces and monitor the presidential election to contribute to its free and fair conduct.
