“Every person understands the word “instrument” in compliance with his level and educational qualification”, announced the former RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Arzumanyan reflecting on Robert Kocharyan’s comments on Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s speech. “Some people understand a labor instrument, others understand that a state is a instrument for the nation”. In an interview with journalists Robert Kocharyan said that if an instrument was not used for 10 years, it became rusty, morally exhausted and of no use and criticized Ter-Petrosyan for proposing himself as an instrument.
Arzemanyan does not consider that what is happening today is a fight of mutual blackmailing. He ensures that Ter-Petrosyan and his team are reluctant to blackmail. “The authorities do not have power and capacities to respond to the criticism addressed to them and try to gather facts against Ter-Petrosyan”, says Alexander Arzumanyan.
According to him, before Ter-Petrosyan’s 21 September speech we lived in another Armenia. “An atmosphere was established that the opposition had nothing to do. But after Ter-Petrosyan’s speech a new political field is established, it has become more active”, ensured Arzumanyan.
Mr Arzumanyan says that since TV broadcasting is not available for the opposition leaders, they raise the awareness of the public by “DVD revolution” – they disseminate Ter-Petrosyan’s speeches on DVDs. He also mentioned that Ter-Petrosyan was ready to debate with any political actor on TV. Arzumanyan also stated that Ter-Petrosyan was willing to debate with Serge Sargsyan, if the latter had the courage to debate with him.
He considered deceitful and defaming authorities’ declaration as if Ter-Petrosyan wanted to see Nagorno-Karabakh as a part of Azerbaijan: “One day the authors of this declaration will account for this”, said Arzumanyan.
