ARMAN BABAJANYAN WAS SENTENCED TO 4 YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT
- The Court of the First Instance of Kentron and Norq-Marash communities sentenced editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Zhamanak Yerevan” Arman Babajanyan to 4 years’ imprisonment for document forgery and for avoiding military service.
Arman Babajanyan accepted that he avoided military service and said he is sorry for that. But “I must tell you that the two years in the Armenian army are much better than a day spent abroad. Nine years ago I had more substancial reasons to leave Armenia than avoiding military service”.
Let us remind you that the prosecution in the person of Janna Kotikyan demanded to sentence Arman Babajanyan to 4.5 years' imprisonment, one year for document forgery and four years for avoiding military service. Nevertheless, the judge decided that Arman Babajanyan is not guilty of document forgery.
Arman Babajanyan can appeal the court decision within 15 days.
