THE FIRST OMBUDSMAN DEMANDS TO REPRESENT HER 2005 REPORT IN NA
- The RA First Ombudsman Larissa Alaverdyan has sent a letter to the NA Speaker and the fractions. It is noteworthy that despite the fact that she is no more an Ombudsman, Mrs. Alaverdyan still uses the official blanks of the Ombudsman to write her letter. {BR}
With her letter Larissa Alaverdyan informed the NA President that by resigning the first Ombudsman by his decree on January 4, the RA President Robert Kocharyan has violated several RA Laws.
«I invite your attention to the 1st part of the 17th article which requires the Ombudsman to represent a report about his activity for the last year to the President of the country, to the legislative, executive and judicial powers. The article states directly that that the report about the year 2005 must be represented by the first Ombudsman in the NA», the letter to Arthur Baghdasaryan says.
At the end of the letter Mrs. Alaverdyan rights, «I turn to you with the expectation that the issue of representing the 2005 report of the first Ombudsman of the country will enter the agenda of the coming session of the NA».

Today in Armenian history- 1786 Birth in Moscow of Hovhannes Nazaryan, a public and cultural figure of the 19th century. He was a member of the court of the Russian Empire, and a State Adviser. (Died 1858, in St Petersburg).
- 1920 Opening of Armenia's State University in Alexandropol (since there was no convenient building in Yerevan). The first rector was Yuri Ghambaryan, Professor of Jurisprudence, who was also known in Europe.
- 1921 At a conference in London, England and France proposed the creation of Armenian National centers. The idea remained on a paper.
- 1927 Birth of Lusine Amara (Armaghanyan). She is an American-Armenian opera singer and a laureate of international competitions.
