REVOLUTION POSTPONED

During its third special session the «New Times» party tried to answer one question - «What to do? ». Almost all the heads of the «17+1» format parties were present except Raffi Hovannisian. The Heritage party was represented by the political secretary of the party Vardan Khachatryan. By the way, an invitation had also been sent to the representatives of the coalition. They did not accept it. {BR}
There was one thing general for the speeches of the head of the New Times party and the other leaders – the last date of radical changes and revolution is 2006 as after that nothing can be done.
In this connection the head of the Democratic Party Petros Makeyan said that it is dangerous to state a whole year as the date for a process. According to him, whatever must be done must be done within the coming months.
The opposition also felt the necessity of changing the strategy. This was commented on by the head of the Democratic Party Aram Sargsyan, «Experience showed that mixed unity can result in failure. The opposition needs to clear up its strategy. We must understand that the only way out is to do everything with our own hands».
According to Aram Karapetyan, the way out is to create a committee “Armenia” which will carry out real work with proper financing. As a result of its work the oppositional leaders will start a movement and will not stop until a change of authorities is carried out.
According to Aram Sargsyan, the opposition must understand itself and the people it is surrounded by. Hovhannes Hovhannisyan concluded, “We must evaluate our powers and the things we must do; we must create a situation which will allow changes in the country”.
