ARMENIA UNDER THE EUROPEAN MICROSCOPE AGAIN

Today the NA deputy speaker Tigran Torosyan stated with regret that Armenia missed the chance to come out of the microscope. {BR}
«We had a wonderful chance to send an appeal about finishing the monitoring process in 2006. Unfortunately the chance to hold a flawless referendum and to stop the process of monitoring», Tigran Torosyan said. He also noted that they will have another chance in 2007 after the Parliamentary elections. Tigran Torosyan hopes that the 2007 elections will prove that Armenia no more needs monitoring.
Tigran Torosyan does not exclude the possibility to raise the question of ceasing the authorizations of the Azeri delegation during the PACE January sitting. According to Mr. Torosyan, reporter on Azeri issues Herkel has spoken about the necessity of raising the issue both in Baku and in the PACE session. He also noted that the Azeri elections have been highlighted as negative; even photos have been shown about acts of violation on the day of elections.
The members of the Azeri delegation have tried to draw parallels between their elections and the RA referendum by the members of the Armenian delegation prevented them from doing so. Reporter on the RA referendum Kolumbie has said that the numbers about the participation are questionable and that the authors of the violations must be punished by all means.
Asked a question by A1+ how they are going to punish the authors of the violations when they are members of the coalition Tigran Torosyan said that the opposition too had members in the Committee and had to do their duties.
The report about the course of honoring of obligations and commitments by the Armenia will not be heard during the January sitting. Asked the question why Tigran Torosyan said that the reporter on Armenia Jezhi Jaskernia has not been elected deputy in Poland and he is no more a reporter. Besides, nothing special has taken place in Armenia, and the PACE reporters had visited Armenia in May. Tigran Torosyan said that the results of the Constitutional amendments and the legislative amendments must be investigated.
