ANDRANIK MARGARYAN WAS RE-ELECTED HEAD OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

Today the 9th congress of the Republican Party of Armenia took place. Member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation bureau Vahan Hovhannisyan, the deputy head of the Orinats Yerkir party Mher Shahgeldyan, and head of the NA “Democratic Deputy” fraction Karen Karapetyan were present at the event. By the way, Defense Minister Serge Sargsyan and Regional Governing Minister Hovik Abrahamyan were also present, although their names were not included in any list. {BR}
During the elections which took place during the congress the political council of the party was enlarged including 15 more members. And Andranik Margaryan was re-elected head of the party.
The Prime Minister announced that the referendum has taken place and recorded certain progress, despite some violations. The deputy head of the party Tigran Torosyan went further blaming the opposition for not doing their duty in the Electoral Committees.
In answer to the question of A1+ if according to him the society trusts the authorities proceeding from the real results of the referendum, not the official ones, the Prime Minister said, “Yes, they do, because the people will not go against the authorities because of social issues, and this is what trust means”.
When we reminded him about the problems of the Buzand street or of the North Avenue, the Prime Minister noted that there are only a few people who are discontent, and there are 300-400 people who have absolutely no problems. The Prime Minister does not see any ground for change of authorities in the country. He advised the opposition to pursue the constitutional way if they want to realize change of authorities, but he also warned that they will do everything to preserve power.
THE STATUS OF KARABAKH WILL NOT BE DECIDED ON THE EXPENSE OF THE TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY OF ARMENIA
Karabakh must be independent, Karabakh must not form part of Azerbaijan, Karabakh must have land connection with Armenia, the status of Karabakh must not be decided on the expense of the territorial integrity of Armenia, - these are the basic obligatory conditions of the settlement of the Karabakh conflict according to the Republican Party.
These theses were put forward by the head of the party Andranik Margaryan during the Party congress. After that he assured the journalists that the opposition is wrong in announcing that we will not have better solution than the one in 1997.
«It will not be worse than in 1988, not worse than in 1994, not worse than now», the Prime Minister announced.
