CONFLICT IN JAVAKHQ

Yesterday another incident took place in the Samtskhe-Javakhq region of Georgia. The reason of the clash was that the Georgian authorities resigned the Armenians working in the border pass-control point near the village Zhdanovka and accepted Georgians instead of them. {BR}
The work in the pass-control point is the only source of income for the representatives of the local Armenian community. At about 11:00 a.m. hundreds of residents of the local villages were gathered near different pass-control points to express their discontent.
According to the Regnum agency, they demanded a meeting with the head of the Samtskhe-Javakhq governor. After he refused to meet them, the participants of the march attached the pass-control points.
The local residents explained their act by their difficult situation complicated by the corrupt officers. The representatives of the Armenian community of Georgia mention that they tried to invite the attention of the Armenian and Georgian authorities to their problems and to the discrimination they suffer.
