HOW MANY PLACES WILL BE GIVEN TO PROSPEROUS ARMENIA PARTY?
- The picture of powers to be represented in the next parliament is becoming clear already. Now it is clear that the main two largest political powers in the parliament - the RPA and PA parties - will participate in the elections with separate lists. The Legal State party has become trouble for the authorities and even if they participate in the elections with a separate list and distribute oil and food to the voters, they will not be able to overcome the limit of 5%. For this reason currently they are discussing the possibility of involving the LS in the RPA's proportional lists. According to our information, during a recent meeting, which was held in participation of president Serzh Sargsyan as well, they discussed the issue of giving 7-9 places from the PA's 41 places to their partner power. However, the PA leaders are against this offer, and even Gagik Tsarukyan wants more. For your information, in 2007 the PA appeared in the parliament with 25 MPs and 15,13% votes (7 out of which were under the proportional system) and they had four MPs elected under the majoritarian system. There are rumors that following the mentioned meeting the political powers are negotiating around the issue of giving 11 majoritarian seats to the PA. In the announcement of the coalition of the RPA, PA and LS the three political powers committed to the following: "Towards the new changes the coalition parties are united and do not tend to increase their role in the next parliament through struggling against each other and changing the proportion of the powers within the coalition".
