MOURNING AND CELEBRATION DAY

On April 9 many citizens commemorated the victims of the March 1 events at 11 a.m.-3: 30 p.m. and put flowers near the monument of Myasnikyan. “Levon Ter-Petrosyan will speak about everything. I think that it was right to keep silence during the forty days after the tragedy, and he will speak after it for sure,” said chairman of Republic party Aram Z. Sargsyan. Even though no one was arrested during that day, there was at least one incident. During the celebration party that evening a group of policemen, who were not in uniforms, took some men and women to Aram street and beat them up for calling the name of Levon during the party and repeating the slogan “struggle, struggle till the end”. As well as the editor in-chief of Taregir newspaper Taguhi Hakobyan was beaten up. After that incident a large group of citizens, mainly consisting of young people, walked up to the North Avenue and continued their demonstration. The concert continued during that demonstration and the organizers presented 18 balloons brought from Russia.
