FEARS FOR SAFETY DEATH THREATS
On Saturday April 19 the stimulating one of Armenian emission “HAGHTANAG” * on the waves of radio operator Galere, was threatened on line on the waves like his/her colleague. These two last Chouchig weeks also received threats via several phone calls.
The authors of these threats, not identified to date, indicated that it was “to cease its activities and [...] to stop speaking about genocide of the Armenians”. At the time of a last call the author also stated that “if it does not stop, it will finish like Hrant Dink” (the publication director of the bilingual weekly magazine turco-Armenian AGOS, which was coldly cut down of three balls in the head in Istanbul on January 19, 2007 whereas he left his office).
It seems that one seeks to restrict the freedom of expression of the two journalists. Their life is in danger, just like that of the other members of the personnel of radio station Galere.
The threats uttered against Chouchig and his/her colleague were announced to the police services. In the name of freedom of expression any citizen must ask for special security measures to protect the two journalists because they are today without protection.
